About us at tranquil water cork, accommodation

Get to know Mary, Your Host

I come from a farming background and love living in the country side. I grew up picking mushrooms at dawn, making blackberry jam or apple jelly for our family, a tradition I carry on for my guests. I like to cook bread and scones like my mother before me, and I grow herbs for my kitchen, and flowers to cut for my home. I live in a beautiful area of East Cork, which I enjoy to the fullest; walking in the local woods, playing tennis in our sea-front club, sea-swimming, body-surfing and kayaking. We are fortunate to have numerous beaches, all different, all with their own charm, and all within a 10 min drive. It is from these beaches that I collect the bountiful supplies for my sea glass and beach art.

My Story

I have retired after 20 years of managing a community playgroup to establish Tranquil Water Cork. Having grown up in a home where there was a seat at the table for all visitors I now love extending a warm, welcoming hospitality to my guests.

Tranquil Water Cork is located near Midleton, 27 km from Cork city and the airport, Cobh is just across the harbor as the birds fly.  My guests enjoy visiting Fota House & Gardens and Fota Wildlife Park, Spike Island, Cobh Cathedral, Cobh Heritage Centre, and the Titanic Experience.  This is a really handy guide for your holiday stay with me:
